Location: San Bernardino National Forest, Western Big Bear Valley area.
Date of Fire Start: September 14, 2007
Cause: Under investigation
Acres burned: 14,039Percent Contained: 93%

Cooperating Agencies: CAL FIRE, San Bernardino County Fire Department, California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office, Big Bear City, Big Bear City Fire Department, Big Bear Lake Fire Department and CalTrans.

Fire Status: Containment lines were further improved and reinforced. No forward movement of fire occurred. Winds will be erratic gusts up to 15mph and sustained winds at 4mph.

Today's Actions: Crews will continue to work towards 100% containment. Structure protection remained in place within the community of Fawnskin as needed. Fire line rehabilitation and mop-up along the fire's perimeter continue. Extensive demobilization of excess resources is underway.

Structures destroyed: 3 outbuildings in Camp Whittle.

Injuries: 3 minor

Mandatory Evacuations:

The mandatory evacuation of Fawnskin was lifted at 6:00 p.m. yesterday with proof of residency.

Fawnskin will be open to the general public as of 6:00 p.m. today.

Voluntary Evacuations:

None, All voluntary evacuations in Lucerne Valley, Green Valley, Running Springs, and Arrowbear, have been lifted.

Road Closures: Highway 18 is closed between Running Springs and Big Bear Lake Dam.

Use Hwy 38 as an alternate. Hwy 38 will be open unrestricted at 6:00 p.m.
