Location: San Bernardino National Forest, Mountain Top Ranger District, western Big Bear Valley area.

Total personnel assigned to fire: 1,085
At approximately 1:21 p.m. Friday September 14 crews were dispatched to a vegetation fire north east of Butler Peak. The fire was wind driven with winds out of the south. The fire continues to travel in a northeasterly direction. Mid to long range spotting has been occurring. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
A type 1 Incident Management Team will be transitioning today from Southern California Interagency Team 3.
Mandatory Evacuations:
·q Evacuation shelter has been set up by the Red Cross at Big Bear High School.

Voluntary Evacuations:
·q Lucerne Valley from Crystal Creek west to High Road.
·q Green Valley Lake, Running Springs and Arrowbear
Firefighters Injured: One injury reported.

·q Big Pine Flats Campground
·q Camp Whittle
Road Closures: Highway 18 is closed to Big Bear-Use Hwy 38 as alternate.

Weather, Fire Behavior and Smoke Conditions:
Low humidity (4-8%), low fuel moistures and temperature high ranging from 65 to 70 with winds out of the southwest 5-15 mph. Fire behavior expected to continue to be extreme.
