Current Fire Situation
The fire began at approx 1230 Hrs on September 12, 2007 in the Cleveland National Forest, near the Corte Madera Ranch. The fire quickly grew to over 1000 acres due to extremely dry brush and strong winds. Firefighters on the ground and in the air made an aggressive attack, slowing the fires spread and protecting the community.

·q Be sensitive to the concerns of the public and communities at risk and keep them informed
·q Protect sensitive habitats and heritage resourses.
·q Keep suppression costs commensurate with values at risk.
Weather and Fire Behavior:
Critically low fuel moistures and steep rugged terrain pose a significant threat to fire behavior and rates of spread.
