FIRE ACTIVITY: The Manila Creek Fire, 7 miles southwest of Keller, WA, continues to expand toward the east. Officials closed a 5-mile section of State Highway 21 south of Manila Creek Road on Friday night as crews conducted burnout operations. A level 1 Emergency Advisory Notice was issued to residents along the closed portion of Highway 21 by tribal law enforcement personnel. The Level 3 Emergency Evacuation Notice has been lifted for the Mt. Tolman Fire Center, but remains in effect for the Swawilla Basin and scattered structures along the southern edge of the fire. No structures have been burned by the fire.

A community meeting is being held in Keller at 10 AM today.

The advance of the fire was slowed yesterday by retardant dropped from air tankers. Lines on the west side of the fire were holding in spite of being threatened in places by fire activity.

The Manila Creek Fire started on Monday, September 10, at approximately 11:30 a.m. The fire is burning on land owned by the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation and on land protected by the Washington Department of Natural Resources. The fire cause is under investigation. Arson is suspected.

WEATHER: High temperatures on the fire are expected to range from 82 to 87 degrees today, with relative humidity from 14 to 22%. Winds are predicted to be from the southwest at 3 to 5 mph.

ROAD CLOSURES: Peter Dan/Manila Creek Road between Highway 155 and 21, Old Manila Creek Road, Meadow Creek Road, Lower Jack Creek Road, Upper Jack Creek Road, Keller Butte Road, Joe Moses Road, Buffalo Lake Road to Keller Butte Road.

COOPERATING AGENCIES: The Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation, the Department of Natural Resources and the Washington Incident Management Team 2 are working closely with the communities affected by the Manila Creek Fire.

RESOURCES: 20 Crews, 6 Helicopters, 37 Engines, 9 Dozers, 18 Water Tenders, 118 Overhead
