SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:
A Forest Closure Order for specific roads and the fire area still remains. The public needs to refrain from entering the fire area as many dangers still exist such as fire vehicles, falling snags, and burning debris. Roads signed with "Road Closed" indicate no entry by any means to the public.
FIRE SITUATION:
Yesterday, firefighters patrolled in a grid pattern looking for hotspots in the Wilderness area; one spot was located and mopped-up. The 300 ft. mop-up standard has been met on the south perimeter of the fire and hose was removed. No smokes were located on the southeast perimeter yesterday but some interior heat near the line was found and helicopters dropped several bucket loads of water to extinguish. The northeast perimeter continues to be mopped-up. Palm held infra-red cameras were used to locate heat sources along the perimeter. Located spots received water bucket drops from helicopters and mopped-up. The mop-up standard of 300 ft was met along the north perimeter. All hose and equipment has been removed. Firefighters continued to look for opportunities to burn-out interior islands of unburned fuels in stands of timber to remove understory vegetation. Burning out the vegetation while burning conditions are favorable will result in desirable outcomes and less loss of remaining forest stands. This will also lessen the amount of perpetual smoke that will be visible until the season ending event.
Today, firefighter will continue to patrol, mop-up, rehabilitate fire lines, and remove equipment.
The Evacuation Notice for the Black Butte Ranch area remains at a Level 1 evacuation notice.
FIRE LOCATION:
