Operational Objectives: Keep the fire south of the 2N16 Indian Valley Road, east of Jims Creek, north of Naufus Creek, and west of the 2N07 Ragan Meadows Road.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fire Activity: Low fuel moisture continues to contribute to the fire spread and spotting. Spotting has been the most significant method of fire spread. Another night of low relative humidity recovery will allow the fire to remain active through the evening. All dead fuel classes will be consumed and burn. Fire fighters continue to expect back fire spread and upslope movement in draws. Fire activity will pick up by mid-morning in areas receiving morning sun.
Past and Current Actions: Firefighters have made significant progress in constructing and strengthening containment lines along the northern, western, southern, and southeastern flanks of the fire. Today, firefighters will patrol, mop-up, and hold the line along those flanks, aggressively search for spot fires, and continue improving containment line along the northeastern flank.
Fire Restrictions and Closures: For public safety, the Shasta-Trinity NF has implemented a closure order for the area surrounding the fire. Camping in the vicinity of Indian Valley and roads leading into the fire area will be closed to hunting and public use. This closure order does not apply to area residents or Forest Service special use permittees and contractors. The public is encouraged to continue to use the many other dispersed recreation sites in the following South Fork Management Unit areas: South Fork Mountain, Yolla Bolla, west of Hyampom Road, north of Hayfork, Wildwood, and Trinity River. For additional information regarding the closure area boundary or other recreation opportunities, contact the Hayfork Ranger District office at (530) 628-5227.
Remarks: Last night on the fire line, a firefighter was transported on a air flight to Mercy Hospital in Redding due to a severe reaction to an insect bite. After medical treatment and observation, he has been released from the hospital. NorCal Team II continues to manage the fire for the Shasta-Trinity NF. A public meeting is being planned for Tuesday, September 4, in Hayfork.
