Current Situation: Fire activity has been minimal thus far today. Fire crews are working to extinguish four spot fires near the containment line in the Frog Creek area and southeast of Charity Peak. In this same area as well as Upper Mill Creek, crews are continuing to put out smoldering logs, stumps, and debris.
Preparedness Notice Lifted Tomorrow at 6 a.m.: As of 6 a.m. Monday August 27, the one-hour preparedness notice is lifted for all areas of the fire. Traffic check points will still be staffed at the Helibase off Hwy 93 and the A1000 road. We ask that only residents access roads previously staffed by the National Guard since there is still heavy equipment and crews traveling in these areas. Residents are reminded that there may still be smoldering debris on their property where the fire burned.
Traffic Control: Motorists are discouraged from stopping along the highway to view the fire. There continues to be heavy fire traffic along Highway 93, and the speed limit reduction will remain in effect for the next few days. The Montana Highway Patrol and Missoula County Sheriff's Department are patrolling the area.
