Fire Management Returns to Cascade Ranger District
Incident: Cascade Complex Wildland Fire
Released: 9/24/2007
With the seasonal precipitation returning to the area and fire intensity greatly decreased, the management of the Cascade Complex fires will be taken back by the Cascade Ranger District of the Boise National Forest tomorrow, Sept. 25, 2007.
Tom Suwyn, departing Incident Commander, said; "With today's continued mop-up efforts and the resources we're leaving the District, they believe they'll be where they need to be, to continue effective management of these fires. The next big effort will be in rehab of the area and that'll be where their efforts focus."
Road and area conditions that may impact public safety are the determining factors in decisions made by Valley County and the U.S. Forest Service to open or close access.
The schedule for removing the Forest Service Area Closure Order and the re-opening of public roads by the Valley County Sheriff's Office is being finalized today and an announcement is expected this evening.
The Warm Lake Road is currently open to the public from Hwy 55 at Cascade to the Big Creek Summit area. Road Construction is still underway so travelers can expect heavy truck traffic on that road. Forest 409 Road is also open to Railroad Pass.
