Some Areas Opened for Upcoming Weekend
Some areas previously closed for firefighter and public safety within the Boise National Forest are now open. The open areas include:
- The Warm Lake Road from Hwy 55 at Cascade to near the Big Creek Summit area. Road Construction is underway so travelers can expect heavy truck traffic on that road. Forest 409 Road will be open to Railroad Pass.
- Areas and roads located outside of the Grays Creek Fire perimeter.
- Areas directly West of Cascade that are within Beaver Creek, Gold Fork, Big Creek,
and Clear Creek Drainages contained in Big Game Hunting Units 24, and 33.
Other closures will remain in effect including Warm Lake, Landmark Johnson Creek, and the South Fork Salmon River Drainage. Further opening of areas are weather dependent and will be evaluated following the storms predicted for this weekend.
Forest Supervisor Dick Smith said, "It has been a long difficult fire season and we wish we could open all areas up to the public to accommodate their access into areas affected by fire around the Warm Lake and Yellow Pine Areas, but it is simply unsafe to do so yet. "
Because the Boise Information Center will be closed this weekend, information regarding specific access and fire conditions can be obtained by calling:
