Cascade Complex Update 09/10/07

Incident: Cascade Complex Wildland Fire
Released: 9/10/2007

CASCADE COMPLEX UPDATE

Fire activity has continued to increase slightly on the Cascade Complex. Single tree torching, creeping and smoldering has brought the total acreage to 283,620 acres and containment remains at 30%. Fire activity will be noticeable in the Curtis Creek, Johnson Creek, Yellow Pine and North Fork areas.

Sheriff Patti Bolen has consulted with Mike Whalen, IC, about down grading to a Level II evacuation order for Yellow Pine, Johnson Creek and Warm Lake residents. Current and predicted fire behavior throughout the next day is not conducive for this action. Another assessment will be conducted in a few days and a determination regarding the evacuation order will be made at that time. Until then, the Level III evacuation orders remain in place for Johnson Creek, Yellow Pine and Warm Lake. Area and road closures remain in affect in the vicinity of the fire. In coordination with Broyles's Type 1 IMT, we have confirmed that the Lick Creek Road remains closed. Visit www.fs.fed.us/idahofires for up-to-date information on closures affecting the Boise, Payette and Salmon-Challis National Forests. For more information, contact Robbie McAboy at 208-382-3202.
