Yesterdays Fire Activity
Warmer temperatures, lower relative humidity, and increased wind speeds combined to produce increased fire activity in several areas. Torching, spotting and limited crown runs occurred in the Landmark area and along Johnson Creek Road. Multiple aviation assets were utilized in dropping water in the attempt slow the fire spread.
A temporary closure of the Johnson Creek Road has closed access to and from Yellow Pine. The closure will also apply to Big Creek. Access will be restored as quickly as possible and is dependent on fire activity.
Point protection, fuel reduction efforts, and hazard tree removal continued throughout the complex. Fire personnel are poised and ever vigilant to take advantage of opportunities for aggressive suppression action where required.
Yellow Pine remains in a Level 2 evacuation status and residents are still advised to be prepared for the possibility of a higher level evacuation.
Today's Planned Activity
Crews are taking actions on identified point protection objectives at Yellow Pine, Johnson Creek, Deadwood, Warm Lake, Stolle Meadows, Paradise Valley and Landmark.
Planned escorts for landowners into the Warm Lake area have been postponed until the fire personnel traffic on the road is significantly reduced. Fire managers will re-evaluate road traffic/conditions Monday evening.
Other Important Messages
Area, road, and trail closures are in effect around the Cascade Complex until further notice. More specific information may be obtained at the local Forest Service offices.
