What's Open, What's Closed
Boise, ID - Since the majority of fires on the Boise National Forest began in early July, forest and fire managers along with law enforcement officials have wrestled with balancing safety and access issues. Managers realize the need to provide for public and firefighter safety while allowing the public to enjoy their national forests. Due to the constantly changing nature of wildland fires, many Boise National Forest roads, trails and surrounding areas have been closed and reopened over the past several weeks. The following is a summary of what currently remains closed and what has reopened on the Forest:
Reopened
- Yellow Pine and Johnson Creek primary residents only are allowed to return to their homes via Warm Lake Road. These residents remain under a Level 2 Evacuation Order, which cautions that evacuations may again be required.
- Deadwood Reservoir and Bear Valley are open.
- The area south of Highway 21 in the vicinity of Tenmile Ridge is open, with the exceptions listed below.
Closed
- The Tenmile Ridge closures include: FS Road 312 (Graham Road) from the junction with FS Road 598 (Jackson Peak Lookout Road), and Trails 157, 171 & 467.
- The Lick Creek Road remains closed due to unsafe conditions.
- Evacuations are still in place for the Paradise Valley and Warm Lake areas. For evacuation information, contact the Valley County Sheriff at 208-382-7150.
- A large area closure remains around Warm Lake and Johnson Creek Road.
