Authorities Lighten Evacuation Level Near Yellow Pine
Boise, ID - The Valley County Sheriffs Office has elected to downgrade the Level 3 Implemented Evacuation Order for the Yellow Pine and Johnson Creek areas down to a Level 2 Recommended Evacuation Order. This will allow primary residents only to return to their homes with proper identification. However, residents should be aware that evacuation may again be warranted if fire activity increases and threatens to overrun these locations. Travel to these areas will be via the Warm Lake Road. The Lick Creek Road remains closed due to unsafe conditions. Evacuations are still in place for the Paradise Valley and Warm Lake areas. For information regarding evacuations, contact the Valley County Sheriff at 208-382-7150.
Cascade Complex Total: 211,353 acres, 20% contained
Monumental Fire - 164,083 acres, Riordan Fire - 47,270 acres
There was no significant growth yesterday on the complex. This lack of fire activity has allowed fire fighters the opportunity to strengthen and improve structure and infrastructure protection in Yellow Pine, Sulphur Ranch, Morgan Ranch, Johnson Creek, Deadwood, Warm Lake, Stolle Meadows, Paradise Valley, and Landmark. A considerable effort to improve safety by removing fire-damaged trees from major travel routes is continuing.
Resources: 825 personnel, 21 crews, 9 aircraft, 22 engines.
