Area, Road, and Trail Closure

(For Public Safety)

PROHIBITIONS:

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited on the roads and area described in this order, within the administrative and proclaimed boundaries of the Cascade Ranger District, Boise National Forest until further notice.

·1. Going into or being upon the Fire Area (as described below). 36 CFR 261.52(e)

·2. Being on a trail within the Fire Area (as described below). 36 CFR 261.55(a)

·3. Being on a road within the Fire Area (as described below). 36 CFR 261.54(e)

EXEMPTIONS:

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this order:

·1. Persons with a special use authorization or other Forest Service authorization specifically exempting them from the effect of this Order.

·2. Any Federal, State, or local Officer or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.

·3. Federal or State administrative personnel in the performance of an official duty.

AREA DESCRIPTION:

Cascade-Landmark Complex Closure Area - Including all roads and trails within this area from a point beginning at the junction of the Boise National Forest and Payette National Forest administrative boundary located within Township 19 North, Range 8 East, NE 1/4 Section 26, then southerly along the administrative boundary approximately 12 miles to the junction of the Boise National Forest and Salmon-Challis National Forest administrative boundary located within Township 18 North, Range 9 East, SE1/4 Section 32, then continuing southerly along the administrative boundary approximately 31 miles to the junction of the Cascade Ranger District and Lowman Ranger District administrative boundary located in Township 14 North, Range 8 East, SE 1/4 Section 31, then westerly along the administrative boundary approximately 9 miles to the junction of the Cascade Ranger District and Emmett Ranger District administrative boundary located within Township 14 North, Range 7 East, NE 1/4 Section 32, then southwesterly along the administrative boundary approximately 16 miles to the junction with the section line between Sections 21 and 22 located within Township 13 North, Range 5 East, then continuing northerly along the section line approximately 1/2 mile to the junction of the Boise National Forest boundary located in Township 13 North, Range 5 East, SW 1/4 Section 15, then northerly along the Forest boundary approximately 2 miles to the junction with National Forest System (NFS) Road #409 (aka Clear Creek Road) located within Township 13 North, Range 5 East, SW 1/4 Section 3, then northeasterly approximately 1/2 mile along but excluding NFS Road #409 to the junction with NFS Road #406 (aka Horsethief-Clear Creek Road) located in Township 13 North, Range 5 East, NE 1/4 Section 3, then northerly along but excluding NFS Road #406 approximately 3 miles to the junction with NFS Road #433 (aka Stony Meadows Road) located within Township 14 N, Range 5 East, NE 1/4 Section 28, then Northerly along but excluding NFS #433 approximately 2 miles to the junction with the section line between Sections 10 and 15 located within Township 14 North, Range 5 East, then west approximately 1/2 mile to the Boise National Forest boundary located within Township 14 North, Range 5 East, SE 1/4 Section 9, then northwesterly along the Forest boundary approximately 4 miles to the junction of the Boise National Forest and State of Idaho administrative boundary located within Township 15 North, Range 5 East, W 1/2 Section 31, then northwesterly along the administrative boundary approximately 2 miles to the junction with the Boise National Forest boundary located within Township 15 North, Range 4 East, SW 1/4 Section 13 then northerly along the Forest boundary approximately 6 miles to the junction with the Boise National Forest and Payette National Forest administrative boundary located within Township 16 North, Range 5 East SW 1/4 Section 19, then westerly, then northerly, then westerly along the administrative boundary approximately 40 miles to the point of beginning, Boise Meridian.

The above described area is within the proclaimed and administrative boundaries of the Cascade Ranger District, Boise National Forest, Valley County, Idaho.

Note: unless a fire area perimeter road or trail is described above as excluded from the fire area, all roads and trails within the area boundary as described above are closed to public use.

PURPOSE

The area (including all roads and trails within the area) as described above has ongoing wildfire activity within its perimeter (aka Riordan, Sandy, Monumental, Yellow, and North Fork Fires). The area is closed for public safety and protection from hazards associated with wildfire and suppression activities.

IMPLEMENTATION

·1. This Special Order will be in effect when signed and shall remain in effect until further notice.

·2. A map identifying the above described road and area is attached and made part of this Order.

·3. Any violation of this Order is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, and/or imprisonment for not more than six months [Title 16 USC 551, Title 18 USC 3571(b)(6), Title 18 USC 3581(b)(7)].

·4. This Order supersedes any previous orders/notices for the above-described area, or portions thereof.

·5. Further information regarding this Order may be obtained at the Cascade Ranger District in Cascade (208) 382-7400 and the Boise Forest Supervisor's Office in Boise (208) 373-4100.
