Yesterdays Fire Activity
In order to facilitate management of the Cascade Complex it has been divided into two Branches with Management Action Points (MAPs) identified and groups assigned to provide point protection in those areas. These groups include:
--Branch 1 Landmark Group-Continued to provide protection around the Landmark Guard Station, establish a spike camp at the Landmark airstrip and thin the surrounding vegetation, and continued to protect the Rock Creek Cow Camp area.
--Branch 1 Paradise Group continued structure protection at home sites and established camps. Work was done to secure the Warm Lake road to Cabin Cr.
--Branch 1 Stolle Group Crews began mopup operations around structures, Stole Guard Station, and drop point 1
--Branch 1 Warm Lake Group continue to secure the perimeter west of the 427 road.
--Branch 1 Warm Lake Road Group continue to secure the South Fork Salmon Road by removing hazard trees and evaluation of the road bed.
--Branch 2 Deadwood Group complete chipping and thinning to protect structures as needed. Secure FS 579 road by felling hazard trees. Evaluate need for holding fire west of the 579 road.
--Branch 2 Johnson Creek Group continued to improve structure protection and strengthen existing lines. Remove excess equipment from Cox camp area.
--Branch 2 Morgan Ranch Group continue structure protection at Morgan Ranch, Joe Bump cabin, and Elkhorn Pack Bridge.
--Branch 2 Sulphur Ranch Group continue structure protection at Sulphur Cr. Ranch, Joe Bump cabin, Power House,and Elkhorn Pack Bridge.
--Branch 2 Yellowpine Group continue structure protection in and around Yellowpine.
--Night Shift Group Patrol and suppress any threats to structures.
Todays Planned Activity
Crews will continue to provide suppression protection to communities, structures and critical infrastructures to redirect or stop fire spread. Protection efforts have been successful and measures used include fuel reduction, sprinklers and extinguishing spot fires. Opportunities for more aggressive direct suppression actions will be evaluated as they develop.
Other Important Messages
Area, road, and trail closures are in effect around the Cascade and Landmark Complex until further notice. More specific information may be obtained at the local Forest Service offices.
