Complexes Restructured to Suit Fewer, Larger Fires

Boise, ID - A Type 1 Incident Management Team is assuming command of both the Cascade and Landmark Complexes. The Great Basin team, headed by Incident Commander Rowdy Muir, has already taken over management of the Landmark Complex near Yellow Pine, and will assume command of the Cascade Complex at 6:00 p.m. today. Each complex originally included multiple fires, but the fires have grown together over the past several weeks leaving only one large fire per complex. The new complex will consist of the Monumental and the Riordan fires and will be called the Cascade Complex. Beginning tomorrow, the complexes will no longer be separated on the daily news releases.

Cascade Complex 158,638 acres, 11% contained Warm Lake Road remains closed to all non-emergency traffic, and power lines between Scott Valley and Yellow Pine are shut down. For power outage information, contact Idaho Power: 1-800-488-6151. Resources: 1,025 personnel, 29 crews, 6 aircraft, 42 engines. Fire Update: The fire is smoldering after receiving light rain. The fire will continue to spread north and east towards the Middle Fork of the Salmon River.

Landmark Complex 47,270 acres, 15% contained Lick Creek Road remains closed until further notice to all non-emergency traffic. Evacuations remain in effect for the Yellow Pine and Johnson Creek areas - for information, contact the Valley County Sheriff at 208-382-7150. Resources: 320 personnel, 5 crews, 4 aircraft, 13 engines. Fire Update: Crews are continuing to improve structure protection around developments in the Yellow Pine and Johnson Creek areas.

Middle Fork Complex The 555 Road has reopened from Highway 17 to Forest Road 579. The contained fires in this complex (Sheep Trail, Lightning and Lucky) are now managed through the Boise National Forest's Garden Valley Ranger District. Road, trail and fire closures for the Sheep Trail and Lucky Fires have been lifted; Lightning Fire closures remain in effect and are being re-evaluated daily. Trapper Ridge Wildland Fire Use Minimal fire activity is occurring. Area closures remain in effect and are being re-evaluated daily. Contact: Lowman Ranger District 208-259-3361

Stage 2 Fire Restrictions remain in effect on the Boise National Forest.
