Evacuations Ordered Due to Extreme Fire Activity

Boise, ID - Idaho Governor Otter has ordered mandatory evacuation of residents of Yellow Pine and Johnson Creek, due to extreme fire danger and the probability of fire impacting the communities. Evacuees will be escorted from the area at 11 a.m. today to McCall, ID. The evacuations will remain in place until residents can safely return.

Cascade Complex 85,468 acres, 18% contained Late Monday afternoon, the North Fork Fire spotted across the South Fork of the Salmon River, and burned into the Cascade Complex Incident Command Post (ICP) and base camp. There were no injuries. Damage included the loss of one yurt (large tent), 5 firefighter tents and minor damage to one pickup truck. The rest of the camp facilities are intact. Two historic structures belonging to Knox Ranch (located next to the ICP) were lost. Firefighters were successful in protecting structures around Warm Lake, including the Youth on A Mission Camp, the Juniper Outfitters facilities, and historic structures at Stolle Meadows.

Road Closures: Warm Lake Road and Lick Creek Road are closed to all non-emergency traffic. Powerlines located between Scott Valley and Yellow Pine are shut down until further notice. Landmark Complex 56,882 acres, 23% contained To accommodate the mandatory evacuation Yellow Pine and Johnson Creek area residents, a Red Cross evacuation center has been set up at the LDS Church in McCall. For additional information, contact the Valley County Sheriff's Office at: 208-382-7150. The Lucky Fire closure area has been lifted, including the re-opening of Forest Roads #600, #605, #662, #670, #678, #678B, #698, and Forest Trails #33, #41, #100, #102, and #660. Middlefork Complex 17,432 acres, 90% contained Firelines are being rehabbed and water bars are being constructed to prevent erosion. Community Meeting: Today at 7 p.m. in the Crouch Community Center.
