Increased Fire Activity Brings Road Closures and Power Outages

Boise, ID - High winds generated significant fire activity to many fires on Boise National Forest over the weekend, however successful firefighting efforts have improved containment levels.

Cascade Complex 85,500 acres

Large fires in this complex grew a combined 8,000 acres on Saturday and continued growing through Sunday. Infrared mapping completed yesterday evening indicates the total complex has now increased to 85,500 acres. Warm Lake Road and Lick Creek Road are both closed now to all non-emergency traffic due to extreme fire behavior that could compromise public safety. Powerlines located between Scott Valley and Yellow Pine have been shut down until further notice, due to rapid and uncertain fire growth and potential power pole damage.
