Incident: A lightning-caused wildland fire, which started near Shepp Ranch on 7/13/2007.
Location: Twenty-five miles south of Elk City, ID along the Salmon River.
Jurisdiction: Nez Perce National Forest
Cooperating Agencies: Idaho County Sheriff's Office, Idaho County Disaster Coordinator, Dixie VFD
Current Size: 102,000 acres Containment: 25%
Status: Moist, cool conditions were reported across the fire area. Firefighters completed removing structure wrap, staples and water-handling equipment. Demobilization of excess resources will continue through Friday. Firefighters will continue with rehabilitation efforts until complete. The weekend weather forecast calls for considerable amounts of precipitation on Saturday. Snow is likely at the higher elevations.
Mark Grant's Northern Rockies Type II Incident Management Team (IMT) has transferred command back to the local unit, effective at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, September 21st.
Special Messages: The Nez Perce National Forest has rescinded the Rattlesnake Fire Area Closure. All previously closed areas will be open Wednesday morning, September 19, 2007, with the exception of Rd #233, which will remain closed from Old Orogrande to the Del Rio Mine. Contact the Ranger District for the status regarding this road closure. Stage I Fire Restrictions have also been lifted
