Forest Roads Reopened

Incident: Elk Complex Wildland Fire
Released: 9/12/2007

Yreka, CA-Several roads in the Titus Fire and Little Grider Fire areas, as well as the Cherry Fire area have been reopened. Forest Roads 15N010, 15N17Y and 15N07 have been reopened in the Titus Fire area. Within the Little Grider area Forest Roads 16N30, 17N16, 17N39, and 17N20 have been reopened. Forest Road 40N51 has been reopened in the Cherry Fire area of the Salmon/Scott Ranger District.

Forest visitors entering the wildfire areas should drive with caution and watch for hazards along the reopened roads. The potential for active fire still exists. Be aware that wildfire has burned away debris in some areas--allowing logs and rocks to dislodge and unexpectedly roll down steep slopes. In addition, fire restrictions are still in effect through October 30, 2007. Open campfires are allowed only in certain wildernesses and designated recreation sites. Call your local Ranger District Office, or 530 842 6131, or visit www.fs.fed.us/r5/klamath/conditions for additional information.
