Klamath National Forest Announces Opening of Wilderness Trails
Yreka, CA - The Klamath National Forest has reopened Norcross Campground to public use. The campground, located at the end of the Elk Creek road on the Happy Camp Ranger District, has been closed for several weeks due to wildfires. Trails in the Marble Mountain Wilderness that have been closed due to the fires have also been reopened. Elk Creek, Lower Bear Lake, Rainey Valley, and Marble Gap Trails have been inspected and are safe for hikers. Two road systems in the Happy Camp area continue to be closed due to safety concerns about fire-killed trees.
For further information about closures or current fire status, please call the Klamath National Forest Fire Information Center at 530 841 4451 or visit www.fs.fed.us/r5/klamath/conditions .
