Fire At A Glance
The Frazier Mountain Lookout called in two potential fires yesterday within 3 miles northeast of the Calamity Complex. One fire was attacked by Malheur National Forest crews supported by personnel and equipment from the Calamity Complex. The second potential lightning holdover fire was not found despite searches from the air and the ground. Crews will look for it again today.
Ash was falling on fire camp and the town of Seneca yesterday, but it wasn't from the nearby Calamity Complex - it was from the Egley Complex, 35 miles to the southwest of Seneca.
The fire camp at Seneca is downsizing quickly as the Calamity Complex approaches containment. Crews and equipment are being reassigned to other fires in the region. A type 3 team headed by Dennis Kline will remain on the Calamity Complex until it is fully under control.
