Yesterday's Activities:
On Monday, crews continued to secure containment lines and mop up the northern most portions of the Egley Complex. A major activity at this stage of any fire is to remove excess supplies, equipment, and refuse from the fire area. Numerous crews and resources were released from the Egley Complex to support other incidents.
Weather and Fire Behavior:
The weather forecast calls for temperatures to rise to near 90 with the relative humidity to be in the low twenties. Winds will be out of the northwest from 6-9 mph. The fire behavior is expected to be low due to the expected higher humidity today.
Today's Planned Actions:
Firefighters will continue to focus on the northern perimeter of the Silver and Bear Canyon Fires and the entire Bellows Creek Fire. Their primary duties today will be to mop up any hot spots adjacent to the containment lines. They also will continue to patrol and monitor the entire area of responsibility. Initial attack personnel will be ready to attack any new fires that may occur from the lightning storm last night. Crews will also continue to remove excess equipment, supplies, and refuse from the fire area. Major portions of the complex are now under the responsibility of the local agencies.
Thank you:
This evening, the Burns Interagency Fire Zone will assume full responsibility for management of the Egley Complex, and the Pacific Northwest Team 3 will then be released from the incident tomorrow. The team would like to thank the local community for the support they provided through the suppression effort.
This will be the last update from the Egley Complex Information Center located at the Egley Incident Command Post.
Closures: Due to the extreme fire danger level, closure orders and fire protection measures are in place throughout the area until further notice. All roads and areas west of Highway 395 and north of Highway 20 are closed within Forest Service boundaries on the Emigrant Ranger District. The only exception is the Joaquin Miller Campground, which remains open.
This Fire Update was produced by the Egley Information Center staffed by PNW Team 3.
