More Fire Impacted Roads, Campgrounds,

and Trailheads to Re-open

Today the Inyo National Forest has put out a list of roads, campgrounds and trailheads that have been re-opened in the area impacted by the Inyo Complex fires.

Closures remain in the Oak Creek Canyon area including Oak Creek Canyon Road, which is closed at US 395. Oak Creek Campground, which was burned over by the Seven Oak Fire, is closed.

All other area campgrounds are now open.

All trailheads are now open except Sawmill Pass and Baxter Pass.

Motorists are urged to use caution while traveling through or being on any roads in or near the fire area as equipment and personnel are still working. Rocks and debris rolling down onto roadways can be a problem and visitors are urged to use extreme caution when driving, bicycling, or hiking in the fire areas.

Weather predictions for this week include widespread thunderstorms and the potential for more dry lightning. The future status of all roads and facilities is subject to change based on any changes in the status of the fires, or any new fires.

For additional information on the status of roads and facilities in the fire area please call the Inyo National Forest Fire Information Line at 760-873-2427 or Fire Information Officer Jim Wilkins at 909-815-3967.
