Cause: Illegal Warming Fire

Location: South of Lake Tahoe and East of Fallen Leaf Lake

Fire Containment: 100%

Expected Containment: 07/02/07 Cost to date: $12,100,000

Peak Total Personnel on Fire: 06/28/07, 2174 people, 51 Hand Crews, 164 Engines, 21 Helicopters, 15 Water Tenders, 4 dozers,

Current Total Personnel: 85 Persons, 5 engines, 1 hand crew, 1 helicopter, 20 overhead


Fire Activity:


Fire activity is predicted to be very light today and tomorrow. Winds will range from 5 to 10 mph with temperatures in the mid-nineties.


Today's Actions:

Line rehabilitation and mop up activities will continue to be completed 400 feet interior of the line and snags felled 600 feet interior of the line. A Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) Team is in place to carry on rehabilitation efforts to affected areas from the fire.


Evacuations, Closures and Restrictions:


For resource protection, the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit is restricting entry onto the National Forest System lands within the fire perimeter. This area will remain closed to the public through November 30, 2007.

Due to very dry fuels, fire restrictions have gone into effect throughout the state of California. A National Fire Prevention Team is now in place to assist local agencies with their prevention needs.


Within the Tahoe Basin area, campfires are only allowed within hosted fee campgrounds. No open fires or charcoal barbeques will be allowed on public lands. Only propane stoves are allowed with a 2007 fire permit. No Fireworks are allowed in any area.
