NUMBER OF FIRES: East 100% contained (5,023 acres), Kingsley 100% contained (558 acres), Soldier 100% contained (14 acres), Minnie 100% contained (5 acres), Yolla Bolly WFU (1,247 acres) CURRENT TOTAL ACRES WITHIN THE COMPLEX: 6,847 acres LOCATION: Tehama and Glenn Counties. The East Fire is west of Willows, California PERCENT CONTAINED WITHIN THE COMPLEX: 100% CONTAINMENT DATE: 8/6/06 RESOURCES ASSIGNED: 782 Personnel DATE OF FIRE START: July 25th CAUSE: Lightning FUELS/VEGETATION INVOLVED: Timber WEATHER CONDITIONS: Temp 75-92 Wind 5-10 mph and gusts up to 18. RH 30-40% FIRE ACTIVITY: EAST FIRE: Moderate fire behavior with isolated trees catching fire inside the containment line. The large amount of smoke observed yesterday was from the Hunter Fire. INJURIES AS OF TODAY: Six minor injuries STRUCTURES THREATENED: 25 summer cabins to the north and east of the East Fire. Structure protection plans are in place. No structures have been destroyed. AREAS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC: FH 7 at Alder Springs and Mendocino Pass. Mandatory evacuations are in place and will be enforced for the summer cabins in the Hays Place, Snow Basin, Jenks Place, Garnett Camp, Keeran Camp, Carpenter Place, Keller Place and Spooner Camp, Masterson and Plaskett Meadows Campgrounds. TODAY S ACTIONS: California Interagency Incident Management Team 4, which is managing the Kinsley Complex; is now managing a portion of the Hunter Fire in a unified command with the Arizona Central West Zone Incident Management Team, which continues to manage the remainder of the Hunter Fire. Engines, personnel, and a helicopter are on standby in the event new lightning fires start today. CONCERNS: Changing wind conditions as a result of thunderstorms that are predicted to be north and east of the fire zone. Steep, inaccessible terrain. Threats to Late-Successional Reserves (older forest trees), Northern Spotted Owl and anadromous fisheries habitat.
