FIRE ACTIVITY SUMMARY: Due to more accurate mapping the Kitson Fire is estimated at 808 acres.

Firefighters were able to make good progress in hazard tree removal and mop-up throughout the fire area yesterday. The weather will be slightly cooler with decreasing winds out of the west north/west which will allow further progress on the fireline today. Interior islands of fuel will continue to burn within the fire perimeter causing smoke to be visible.

The threat of thunderstorms will move over the fire today which may cause a slight increase in fire behavior. Fire officials are confident with the progress made over the past few days; they will be able to hold the dozer and handlines.

The Willamette National Forest has issued an Emergency Road Closure for Public Health and Safety in the Kitson Fire area.
