Shingle Mill Fire Still Burning Despite Moisture
Incident: Shingle Mill Wildland Fire Used for Resource Benefit

The Shingle Mill Fire, burning on the Kemmerer Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest continues to burn 45-miles north of Kemmerer, Wyoming. The fire is a lightning caused fire that is being used for resource benefit. The fire has burned 1060 acres of logging slash and dead trees. There are no road or trail closures associated with the fire and no structures are threatened. The fire danger for the Bridger-Teton remains at "moderate".
"There was minimal fire activity over the weekend due to high humidity and rain showers," said Kemmerer District Ranger Tracy Hollingshead. Although the fire is considerably calmer with the cooler weather and moisture, Hollingshead cautions that there is still a danger of active flare-ups. "We are still asking visitors not to set up their camps in an area identified around the fire for safety reasons," said Hollingshead.
