LITTLE BALD MOUNTAIN FIRE UPDATE

Grantsville, Utah - August 12, 2008 - Fire activity on the Little Bald Mountain fire has been minimal. An engine crew will continue to patrol the canyon through Sunday, August 17th and extinguish any hotspots that exist near the fireline. The fire will then be monitored by air at least once a week until declared out. The lightning caused Little Bald Mountain fire located in South Willow Canyon in the Stansbury Mountains near Grantsville was accurately mapped at 502 acres and is 95% contained.

Smoke may be visible by individuals as they recreate in the area until the fire receives significant moisture and can be declared out.

Box Elder, North Willow and South Willow Canyons including Upper and Lower Narrow campgrounds and Loop campground are open as of noon, August 12, 2008.

Cottonwood, Intake and Boy Scout Campgrounds will remain closed until further notice for public health and safety due to possible mudslides and flashfloods. The public will be allowed access to the Stansbury Front Trail through the Boy Scout Campground, but will have to park at Medina Flats.
