LITTLE BALD MOUNTAIN FIRE UPDATE
Grantsville, Utah - The lightning caused Little Bald Mountain fire is approximately 513 acres and estimated to be 75% contained. The fire is located in South Willow Canyon in the Stansbury Mountains near Grantsville. .Yesterday, the fire slowly continued to back down hill towards the South Willow Canyon road and continued to smolder in brush and under story with single tree torching. Today, Mike Wilde's Type 2 Incident Management Team is assisting with the management of the fire. The fire crews are battling steep, rocky terrain but continue to strengthen existing fire lines while putting out hot spots and cold trailing. At this time, the threat to residences is minimal.
Resources assigned: Eight 20 person crews, 4 helicopters, 6 engines, and 1 water tender, for a total of 244 personnel, are currently assigned to the fire.
Closures - Box Elder Canyon, South Willow Canyon, North Willow Canyon, and campgrounds in those areas are closed for public safety and to allow access for fire suppression equipment.
Cooperators are from the following agencies - Tooele County, Grantsville City, Layton City, Utah Division of Forestry Fire and State Lands, Bureau of Land Management, Salt Lake County and U.S. Forest Service.
