EMERGENCY ORDER
LOS PADRES NATIONAL FOREST
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(a) and (b), and to provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Los Padres National Forest. This order is effective from August 16, 2008, until the Santa Lucia Lightning Fire Complex is fully controlled.
Going into or being upon National Forest System lands within the Santa Lucia Lightning Fire Complex Closure Area. The Santa Lucia Lightning Fire Closure Area begins three miles north of Pine Canyon Fire Station on State Highway 166 at the point where the highway intersects the Los Padres National Forest boundary, then easterly along the south side of State Highway 166 to its intersection with Sierra Madre Road (Forest Road No. 32S13), then southeasterly along the west side of Sierra Madre Road to its intersection with Bates Canyon Road (Forest Road No. 11N01), then south along the east side of Water Canyon to its intersection with Water Canyon Camp, then west along the north side of the Sisquoc Trail (Forest Trail No. 30W12) to its intersection with Manzana Schoolhouse, then west along the north side of the Sisquoc River to its intersection with the Los Padres National Forest boundary, then west/northwest along the National Forest boundary to the point of beginning, as shown on Exhibit A. 36 CFR 261.52(e).
Being on any National Forest System road within the Santa Lucia Lightning Fire Complex Closure Area. 36 CFR 261.54(e).
Being on any National Forest System trail within the Santa Lucia Lightning Fire Complex Closure Area. 36 CFR 261.55(a).
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this order:
·1. Persons with a permit from the Forest Service specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission.
·2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of an official duty.
·3. Owners or lessees of private land within the Santa Lucia Lightning Fire Complex Closure Area are exempt from the prohibitions listed above to the extent necessary to gain access to their land.
·4. Persons who reside on private land within the Santa Lucia Lightning Fire Complex Closure Area are exempt from the prohibitions listed above to the extent necessary to gain access to their residences.
These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.

A violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both. 16 USC 551 and 18 USC 3559, 3571 and 3581.
