RED FLAG WARNING FOR SIGNIFICANT WINDS IN THE BARKER WILDLAND FIRE USE AREA
AREA CLOSURE EXTENDED FURTHER EAST
Fairfield, ID . . . The weather service has issued a Red Flag Warning, predicting a significant wind event lasting through Saturday evening, August 30, 2008. The Forest Service is expanding the area closure of the South Barker Wildland Fire Use incident east to include the Paradise Creek Trail and Fleck Summit.
The closure boundary includes the South Fork of Boise River Road (FS #227) from Featherville to Big Smoky and Fleck Summit Road (FS #012). The northern boundary of the closure remains the ridge above the Bear Creek Road (FS #080). The eastern boundary is Paradise Creek Trail (FS #070) and includes the Upper South Fork Boise River subdivisions.
The Boise National Forest has also issued a closure for the trails south of Atlanta Idaho. The trails include the last three miles of Trail Creek # 064; the last mile of Grouse Creek #990; and the last mile and a half of Decker Creek #181.
The South Barker Wildland Fire is burning in part of hunting unit 43. People expecting to hunt, fish, hike, or camp in the area of the closure will have to move to another part of the forest. Bow hunting season opens on Saturday, August 30, 2008.
