The new fire information number is 541.573.7600. Fire camp was established today at the Harney
County Fairgrounds. The helibase continues to be located at Burns Airport.

FIRE ACTIVITY SUMMARY: Fire activity was minimal on Sunday. To the south and east a handline and hose lay was completed from the river to the ridge top. The north portion of the fire has been mopped up and cold-trailed for heat. On the west side of the canyon, Lake Creek drainage has potential for growth. Use of dozer line and direct attack by ground crews is planned today to address this area. The eastern area of the fire is in mop up with cold trailing to a standard of 300 feet to the interior of the fireline. Fuels within the perimeter of the fire are very dry with receptivity for torching in unburned interior islands.

Limited access roads, steep terrain, and heavy fuels are being mitigated strategically with additional resources that arrived on Sunday. Crews, engines, dozers, and helicopters have been successful in arresting growth. Acreage remains at 3000 acres with 40% containment. Crews and other resources are being released as allowed. "We're working hard to minimize grazing allotment loss on this fire," said Incident Commander Mark Rapp at this morning's briefing.

As containment increases and fire activity decreases, resources are being released starting today's morning shift.

WEATHER: Warmer, drier weather in the high 80's will continue. Northwest winds of 7 - 1 mph in the morning may gust to 35 mph on the ridge tops. Relative humidities will drop to 10 - 15%.

CURRENT RESTRICTIONS: A Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) is in place five miles around the fire perimeter. The Lone Pine and Skull Creek Roads in the Silvies River Fire vicinity are restricted to use by livestock and property owners only. Fire danger remains at a HIGH and the Industrial Fire Precaution Level is a level 3 (partial shutdown). A regulated fire restriction across the entire Burns Interagency Fire Zone prohibits off road travel, open fires (except at designated campgrounds). Use of chainsaws is restricted, except at loading sites.
