Incident: Tumble Creek Wildland Fire
Released: 8/4/2008
Start: Afternoon of August 1, 2008.
Location: Near Tumble Creek, in the West Fork of the Stillwater River drainage approximately 8 miles west of Woodbine Campground, and one mile south of the Absaroka/Beartooth Wilderness boundary. The fire grew toward the east to the area of Soderbalm Creek.
Personnel: 15 personnel are currently assigned to the fire. They were supported today by water and retardant drops from airtankers, one heavy helicopter assigned to the fire and additional helicopter support provided by the Cascade Fire. Additional resources are scheduled to arrive tomorrow.
Size: 763 Acres
Closure: An area and road closure is in place in the West Fork of the Stillwater River drainage north to Castle Creek.
Tom Heintz's Type 2 Northern Rockies Incident Management Team has been assigned to manage the fire and will assume command at 600 a.m. August 4.
