Today's Update: Yesterday, Harvey's Great Basin Incident Management Team assumed command of the northern portion of the Ukonom Fire while continuing to manage the Panther Fire. Wooley Creek is the dividing line between Ukonom North and Ukonom South. The fires are burning east into the Marble Mountain Wilderness area. Good progress was made securing containment lines on the fireline outside the wilderness area. The team surveyed the Panther Fire on Saturday to make recommendations for repair of the areas disturbed by fire suppression efforts.
Sunday, firefighters will continue to secure and repair fireline on the Ukonom North, while monitoring fire spread into the wilderness area. Travelers are advised to use caution while driving along Highway 96 as smoke is impacting visibility along the Klamath River corridor.
