The Gunbarrel fire has burned aggressively this afternoon.
Fire is Currently Active near Elephant Head Lodge
Currently firefighters are working to suppress multiple spot fires in the vicinity of Elephant Head Lodge. Firefighting resources in the area include two helicopters, several fire engines, and a hotshot crew. The Park County Sheriff's Office and Park County Fire Marshal also are represented.
Earlier this afternoon a specialist in an oversight plane directed water and retardant drops from four air tankers and four helicopters all in the area of Star Hill Ranch. Meanwhile hotshot crews on the ground worked to contain several acres of problematic spread.
Crews are preparing for the stronger winds expected tomorrow.
