FIRE ACTIVITY SUMMARY: Despite active fire activity in the afternoon,
the coordinated efforts of crews, dozers, and air operations
resulted in all but 3 miles of line being completed. Active spotting
occurred up to one mile ahead in some areas. Snags continue
to create additional hazard to firefighters. Fire is primarily spreading from
heavy dead and down fuels, heavy lichen in unharvested areas,
and from harvest slash piles. No significant runs occured on Wednesday.
is currently at 7604. The Cold Springs Fire is presently considered the #1
Northwest GAC.
TODAY'S ACTIONS: Crews continue direct line construction in all divisions.
Dozers worked on line in eastern and northeastern areas of the fires. Additional type I
crews arrived today, as well as, two more heavy helicopters. A State of Washington Nationa
Guard Type I Chinook Helicopter will arrive today, through cooperation with Washington
Governor Chris Gregiore.
WEATHER: An upper level trough will move into the Pacific Northwest this week bringing
increased west winds and cooler weather. Temperatures are expected to be in the upper
70's with moderate relative humidities. The cooler temperatures are likely to continue through
Thursday and Friday. Warmer, drier weather will return this weekend as an upper level ridge
builds over the area and persist into next week.
RESTRICTIONS AND CLOSURES: Gifford Pinchot National Forest campgrounds closures include:
Morrison, Cold Springs, and Horse Camp. FR 8040 is closed. FR 80 and 82 are closed
at the forest boundary north of Trout Lake, closing access to all roads, trails, and campgrounds.

TROUT LAKE COMMUNITY Trout Lake is open with clear skies. Summer events continue as planned: The
Festival of the Arts (July 19 and 20) , Summer Saturday Market,(July 19) and Trout Lake Fair (Aug. 1-3).
