Estimated Expected Containment: July 20, 2008

Committed Resources: 876 total personnel including 24 Crews, 3 Helicopters, 29 Engines, 6 Dozers, 28 Water Tenders, and fire support personnel

Current Fire Situation: The Cub Complex includes both the Onion and Cub fires that are located in steep terrain. Control lines have been established around the Onion fire and no additional movement is expected. The Cub fire is currently holding within its containment lines. Burnout operations have been successfully completed along the south ridge of the Rattlesnake drainage area between Robbers Roost and Deer Creek. Control lines have been established but major holding and mop-up remains to be finished around the Cub fire. Both fires are currently holding within the containment lines.

Planned Actions: The Onion fire is in patrol status. Highway 32 will open today but with controlled traffic to allow fire crews to continue to fall and remove burned hazard trees and chip debris along the highway. Firefighters on the Cub fire will continue to patrol, hold burnout lines, mop-up containment lines, rehabilitate contingency lines, and fall and chip hazard trees along Highway 32.

Evacuations and Closures: State Highway 32 will open this morning at 6:00am with traffic controls in place from the junction of Highway 36, south towards Chico through Deer Creek Canyon. The public is encouraged to use caution when traveling through the fire area, as firefighters, utility crews, and large equipment operators may be working on or near the highway and side roadways. Call Cal Trans at 800-427-ROAD for the latest road status information.

The Butte County Sheriff has lifted all remaining evacuation orders in the areas of Jonesville, Butte Meadows, and Lassen Boy Scout Camp.

The Lassen National Forest (NF) temporary Forest Closure Order remains in effect which includes a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail within the southern portion of the forest. The Potato Patch, Alder, and Elam campgrounds located south of Highway 36 in Deer Creek Canyon remain closed. All forest campgrounds and the Pacific Crest Trail north of Highway 36 remain open for forest visitors, campers, and hikers. Call the Lassen NF for additional closure information at (530) 257-2151, or on the internet at www.fs.fed.us/r5/lassen.

Remarks: Northern California Interagency Incident Management (NorCal) Team II continues to manage the Cub Complex for the Lassen National Forest. Demobilization of resources to other incidents continues.
