Current Fire Situation: The Cub Complex includes both the Onion and Cub fires that are located in steep terrain. Control lines have been established around the Onion fire and no additional movement is expected. Control lines have been established along the northern, eastern, southeastern, and a portion of the southern flanks of the Cub fire. The fire has spread to Rattlesnake Creek along the northern side of the drainage with limited fire activity on the southern side of the drainage. Aviation assets and Hot Shot crews are critical to support operations in the Rattlesnake Creek drainage.

Planned Actions: The burn-out operation continues utilizing hand and aerial ignition along the southern portion of the Cub fire and has progressed four miles to the west towards Highway 32 and Deer Creek. This operation will continue west on the north-facing aspect above the Rattlesnake Creek drainage as conditions allow. Two an a half miles remain to be burned. Crews will continue to chip debris from the contingency line construction along the 27N06 road north of Jonesville and Butte Meadows communities. Crews continue to patrol and mop-up along the east flank of Cub fire and along Highway 32. Fire suppression rehabilitation planning is ongoing with the Lassen National Forest for the Onion and Cub fires.

Evacuations and Closures: State Highway 32 is now open with controlled traffic through Deer Creek Canyon from the junction of Highway 36, south towards Chico. The public should expect short delays and possible temporary closure when the burnout operation nears Highway 32. Call Caltrans at 1-800-427-ROAD for the latest information. Humboldt Road remains closed at the point that the paved portion of the road ends, just past of Jonesville.

The communities of Butte Meadows and Jonesville remain in Precautionary Threat Evacuation status.

Remarks: Northern California Interagency Incident Management (NorCal) Team II continues to manage the Cub Complex for the Lassen National Forest. Fire camp is established at Chester High School. Approximately 400 firefighters are staying at a remote camp located at the Lassen Boy Scout Camp, north of Butte Meadows.
