Important News: The two hot shot crews on loan from the Iron Complex have finished their assignments working on the slop over in Division B and will return back to the Iron Complex today. Three crews are assigned to work today to further contain and mop up this slop over.

The fire continues to deepen containment lines in Division C as it burns interior fuels with moderate fire behavior.

Current Fire Situation: Fire behavior is increasing as indices rise with the upcoming peak of the fire season. Forecasted mixing winds should clear out most of the smoke layering providing for a slight increase in fire activity. The increased visibility should also allow for increased air operations including aerial recon of Branches II and III.

Today's Objectives: Fire managers will maintain the availability of initial attack resources for contingency forces. Hand crews and engines will patrol and mop-up containment lines in Divisions C and L. In Division B Crews will utilize a hose lay for mop-up and continue improving that segment of line. A dozer and a handcrew assigned to the Trough Fire will continue rehabilitation of the Trough Fire. Air patrol will be utilized to patrol Branches II and III with flights scheduled twice each day.

Structures and Resources Threatened: The structural protection of private holdings near Henthorne Lake and the Forest Service historic buildings have been completed.

Area Closures: Hunters are reminded that the Yolla Bolly-Middle Eel Wilderness is closed to public access to facilitate firefighting efforts. In addition the Jones Ridge area south east of Ruth is also closed due to fire activity. Forest road 501 will be closed to public access at the Ruth Guard Station. The Jones Ridge Road (Forest Road 23) will be closed at the headwaters of Happy Camp Creek. For more information on Forest road closures, contact the respective national forests listed in this update's letterhead.

Additional Fire Information: The Yolla Bolly Incident Information Center is located at the Ruth Fire Camp and will be in operation from 8 AM to 8 PM. The Incident Information phone number is 866-751-0788. Summary information, photos, and maps of the incident will continue to be available online at http://www.inciweb.org/.
