Current Situation:

Southern California Incident Management Team #3 remains in unified command with CAL FIRE. Yesterday saw the following events: (1) Mill Fire: the fire remains active and continues to spot and spread into steep and rugged terrain in the southeast/northeast direction. Both the day and night shift crews made good progress as they continued to construct direct and indirect line around the slop over and spot fires. Firefighters will continue to construct indirect contingency line around the southern/eastern portion of the fire. Seven residences remain under evacuation at this time between Deadmans Flat and Sunset Gap to the east flank of the fire. On the western and southwestern flanks, fire crews continue to improve and hold containment lines and mop up along Thomas Creek. Multiple aircraft continue to support firefighters on the ground with water and retardant drops. (2) The Monkey Rock Fire, the Big and the Back Fires remain in patrol status.

Residents and visitors in and around the area of the Mill fire will continue to see fire and smell smoke as the fire becomes more active during the heat of the day especially in the southeastern portion of the fire.
