Incident: The Mad Complex is a collection of 35 wildfires ignited by a lightning storm on June 20, 2008. Fires have burned a total of 3,705 acres which are 95% contained.

- Mad Complex Fire Area on the Mad River Ranger District is closed except to local and fire traffic.

Potential Threats: Residential structures and other private properties exist within the district. Threatened and endangered species habitat, timber resources and cultural resources are present in this area.

Remarks:
Thirty-two fires are 100% contained. The complex is 95% contained due to three fires in the wilderness area without confirmed locations that are uncontained. The Alaska Type 3 Team will continue to assist the Mad River Ranger District in closing out the fires. Firefighters will continue to mop-up and patrol 300 feet inside containment lines.
Jointly, the Mad River Ranger District and the Alaska Type 3 Incident Management Team held two public meetings on July 11. Local attendees at both meetings were briefed about fire activity within the Mad Complex and surrounding areas.
