SPCA for Monterey County Animal Evacuation Information 7/4
As of this morning, The SPCA for Monterey County has rescued and sheltered 237 animals from the fires, including horses, pigs, goats, llamas, dogs, cats, exotic birds, and more. The SPCA animal rescue team is currently in the Big Sur evacuation areas rescuing animals left behind and assisting residents with evacuations. The SPCA is also operating an emergency animal shelter adjacent to the American Red Cross shelter located at Carmel Middle School.
For All Monterey County Fires:
If you are given orders to evacuate, bring your animals with you. The SPCA's doors are open to all animals in need.
The SPCA will operate an emergency animal evacuation shelter for household pets (cats, dogs, etc.) adjacent to any American Red Cross evacuation shelter.
The SPCA has multiple equine and livestock shelters on-call.
Please contact The SPCA first at 373-2631 or at 646-5534 (after hours) for information on or assistance with evacuating livestock. Household pets can be brought directly to the SPCA evacuation shelter adjacent to the American Red Cross shelter.
The SPCA animal rescue team is available to assist with emergency animal evacuations.

How You Can Help:
· Donate to support The SPCA's fire rescue efforts. Cash donations as well as donations of dog and cat crates, horse and pony halters, and lead ropes are greatly appreciated.
· Adopt animals currently sheltered at The SPCA to make room for more evacuees.
· The SPCA has just reduced all cat and kitten adoptions to $25 each or $25 for a pair to help make room for feline evacuees.
