LOCATION: The Solano Fire is located approximately 20 miles east of Sells, Arizona. It is burning in lands owned by the Tohono O'odham Nation and Arizona State Trust Land and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land. Sections of the fire are located in the BLM Baboquivari Wilderness Area north of Baboquivari Peak.

STARTED: May 9, 2008 CAUSE: Human CONTAINMENT: 40%

ACRES: 2,177 acres.

FUELS: The fire is burning in desert brush land fuel type and some stands of juniper. No riparian areas have been burned at this time.

SUMMARY: Fire activity today was moderate in the morning hours, then actively burning during the afternoon burn period. No structures are threatened at this time. No injuries have been reported.

Management of the Solano Fire was assumed by the Arizona State Type 2 Incident Management Team Saturday May 10, 2008 at 10:00 p.m. Incident Commander for the Solano Fire is Larry Raley. Plans for tomorrow are to continue construction of fire line, hold existing line and begin the process of putting out all the smokes burning within the fire perimeter (commonly called "mop up). Four miles of fireline remain to be built.

RESOURCES: There are 293 personnel assigned to the fire including: 4 Type 2 hand crews, 6 Type 1 Hot Shot crews, 5 engines and crews, 1 dozer, and 8 water tenders. Three single engine air tankers (SEATs), 1 heavy, one medium and one light helicopter are assigned.

COST TO DATE: $563,000

CLOSURES: No road closures are in effect at this time.

FIRE RESTRICTIONS: None in effect.
