Trigo Update #3

Incident: Trigo Fire Wildland Fire
Released: 4/15/2008

Mountainair, NM - April 15, 2008, 6:40 pm: The Mountainair Ranger District along with several hand crews are working the Trigo Fire which was reported just before 10 am this morning. The Trigo fire is reported to be over 200 acres on the west side of the Manzano Mountains southwest of Capilla Peak.

Air resources were grounded early this afternoon due to high winds. Hot Shot crews have been working on establishing an anchor point and flanking the fire. The fire is estimated at over 200 acres and continues to grow. Fire fighters are being challenged by extremely high winds as well as very steep, rugged terrain.

Air support is expected to be available again tomorrow if winds allow for flight. More updates to follow.
