Meetings Scheduled for Orange Show and Victorville Evacuation Centers
An informational meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight at the National Orange Show and Victorville Fairgrounds evacuation centers to brief residents of the evacuated areas on the progress of firefighting efforts and display maps of properties damaged or destroyed by the fires.
The meeting is intended only for people who have been evacuated from the fire areas.
The meetings are designed to provide people at the evacuation centers the current update about the firefighting efforts underway for both fires. The latest information about re-entry plans and schedules as well as resources available to assist displaced homeowners will also be shared.
The meetings will also mark the first official release of information about properties damaged or destroyed by the fires. At the direction of the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, grief counselors and other professionals who can offer assistance to victims will be on-hand to help families who have lost their homes.
"Our goal is to try to get as much information as we have to the people displaced at these centers," said Dan Kleinman, Deputy Incident Commander from Cal Team 1. "We know that everyone has been through a very difficult time. We want to provide the resources so that people can start rebuilding their lives"
Residents and property owners who do not plan to attend tonight's meetings can obtain information about their properties by calling the 211 assistance line no sooner than 7 p.m. tonight. Counselors and other forms of assistance will be available on the 211 line. People calling from outside the county can access 211 by calling 1-888-435-7565.
