Buckweed Fire Destroys Forest Service District Office in Saugus, CA

ARCADIA, Calif. - Forest Service officials announced today that the Santa Clara/Mojave Rivers Ranger District Office was destroyed by the Buckweed Fire on Sunday, October 21, 2007 at approximately 4:30 p.m. All buildings, vehicles, and equipment stored onsite were destroyed in the fire. The office was located in the Angeles National Forest, at 30800 Bouquet Canyon Road, Saugus, CA.

Approximately 20 employees worked at the office, and will need to be temporarily relocated. "Our long-term solution will be to relocate the employees in a new office at the Acton property," said Forest Supervisor Jody Noiron. "But the important thing right now is to reestablish district operations. We've started the process to locate suitable, adequate office space, which is conveniently located to serve the public."

Questions regarding the District relocation can be referred to the Forest Supervisor's Office at (626) 574-5200.
