PROHIBITIONS:
Pursuant to Title 36 CFR 261.50 (a) and (b) the following acts are prohibited on the roads, trails, and area as described in this order, all within administrative and proclaimed boundaries of the Fairfield Ranger District, Sawtooth National Forest until further notice.
- Being on the road (as described below). 36 CFR 261.54(e)
- Being on the trail (as described below). 36 CFR 216.55(a)
- Going into or being upon the area (as described below). 36 CFR 261.52(e)
EXEMPTIONS:
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.60 (e) the following persons are exempt from this order:
- Persons with a permit specifically exempting them from the effect of this order.
- Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
- Federal or State administrative personnel in the performance of an official duty.
ROADS, TRAILS, AND AREA DESCRIBED:
National Forest System (NFS) Road # 011 (also known as Skunk Creek Road) beginning at the road gate on Skunk Creek Bridge in Township 4 North, Range 13 East, Section 34 and continuing entire length and includes all subsidiary logging roads.
NFS Road #014 (also known as OP / Fletcher Creek Road) beginning at the intersection of Road #011 in Township 4 North, Range 13 East, Section 34 and continuing the entire length to north and includes all subsidiary logging roads.
NFS Road #080 (also known as Bear Creek Road) beginning at the intersection with Bear Creek in Township 5 North, Range 13 East, Section 34 and continuing the entire length.
NFS Road #227 (also known as South Fork Boise River Road) beginning at the Sawtooth National Forest Boundary 1.5 miles east of Featherville, Idaho, in Township 3 North, Range 10 East, Section 11 and continuing to Baumgartner Campground in Township 3 North, Range 12 East, Section 7.
NFS Road #074 (also known as Marsh Creek Road) beginning at the intersection of Road #227 in Township 3 North, Range 11 East, Section 5 and continuing the entire length to north and includes all subsidiary logging roads.
NFS Road #005 (also known as Shake Creek Road) beginning at the intersection of NFS Road #227 in Township 3 North, Range 11 East, Section 9 and continuing to the roads end at the Shake Creek Trail in Township 3 North, Range 11East, Section 4.
NFS Road #008 (also known as Willow Creek Road) beginning at the intersection of Road #227 in Township 3 North, Range 11 East, Section 9 and continuing to the Willow Creek Transfer Camp in Township 3 North, Range 11 East, Section 3.
NFS Road #071 (also known as the Kelley Flat Road) beginning at the intersection of Road #227 in Township 3 North, Range 12 East, Section 7 and continuing to the roads end at The Kelley Creek Trailhead in Township 3 North, Range 11East, Section 14.
NFS Trail #028 (also known as Shake Creek Trail) beginning at the intersection with Road #005 in Township 3 North, Range 11 East, Section 4 and continuing the entire length of the trail to the Sawtooth National Forest Boundary and connection to Trail # 064 (also known as the Trail Creek Trail) on the Boise National Forest in Township 4 North, Range 12 East, Section 12.
NFS Trail # 018 (also known as Willow Creek Trail) beginning at the intersection with Road #008 at the Willow Creek Transfer Camp in Township 3 North, Range 11 East, Section 3 and continuing the entire length of the trail and ending at the head of the drainage and trail intersection with Trail #227 (also known as the Ross Fork Trail) in Township 5 North, Range 12 East, Section 34; and all subsidiary trails (NFS Trail # 026 Edna Creek Trail and NFS Trail #025 Haypress Creek Trail) .
NFS Trail #023 (also known as Van Gulch Trail) beginning at the intersection with Road #227 in Township 3 North, Range 11 East, Section 11 and continuing north to intersection with the Willow Creek Trail (#7018) in Township 4 North, Range 12 East, Section 19 and includes connector NFS Trail #031 (also known as Camp Gulch Trail).
NFS Trail #022 (also known as Big Water Gulch Trail) beginning at the intersection of Road #227 in Township 3 North, Range 12 East, Section 12 and continuing the entire length of the trail ending in Township 4 North, Range 12 East, Section 29.
NFS Trail #020 (also known as Little Water Gulch Trail) beginning at the intersection of Road #227 in Township 3 North, Range 12 East, Section 12 and continuing the entire length of the trail and ending where the trail intersects Trail #197 in Township 4 North, Range 12 East, Section 10.
NFS Trail #027 (also known as Jumbo Creek Trail) beginning at the intersection with Road #227 in Township 3 North, Range 12 East, Section 18 and continuing the entire length of the trail to Trail # 020 (also known as the Little Water Gulch Trail) in Township 3 North, Range 12 East, Section 4.
NFS Trail # 024 (also known as Skeleton Creek Trail) beginning at the intersection with Road #227 in Township 3 North, Range 12 East, Section 15 and continuing the entire length of the trail and ending at the intersection with Trail #020 (also known as Little Water Gulch Trail) in Township 4 North, Range 12 East, Section 10.
NFS Trail #064 (also known as Conant Creek Trail) beginning at the intersection with Road #227 in Township 3 North, Range 13 East, Section 8 and continuing the entire length to intersection with Trail #067 (also known as Skunk Creek Trail) in Township 4 North, Range 13 East, Section 17.
NFS Trail #231 (also known as Little Skeleton Creek Trail beginning at the intersection of Trail #024(also known as Skeleton Creek Trail) in Township 3 North, Range 12 East, Section 1 and continuing the entire length of the trail ending at the intersection with Trail #064 (also known as Conant Creek Trail) in Township 4 North, Range 13 East, Section 32.
NFS Trail #230 (also known as Narrow Canyon Trail beginning at the intersection of Trail #024 (also known as Skeleton Creek Trail) in Township 4 North, Range 12 East, Section 25 and continuing the entire length of the trail ending at the intersection with Trail #020 (also known as Little Water Gulch Trail) in Township 4 North, Range 12 East, Section 15.

NFS Trail #189 (also known as Goat Lake Trail beginning at the intersection of Trail #828 (also known as Tip Top Jeep Trail) in Township 5 North, Range 12 East, Section 35 and continuing the entire length of the trail ending at Goat Lake in Township 5 North, Range 12 East, Section 34
NFS Trail #828 (also known as Tip Top Jeep Trail) beginning at the intersection of Road #080 (also known as Bear Creek Road) in Township 4 North, Range 12 East, Section 1 and continuing the entire length of the trail ending at Tip Top Mine in Township 5 North, Range 12 East, Section 26
Area Closure Described, starting at the point of origin on the South Fork Boise River at the Sawtooth National Forest Boundary approximately 1.5 miles east of Featherville, Idaho in Township 3 North, Range 10 East, section 11; then north and easterly along the ridge that divides the Sawtooth and Boise National Forest Boundaries, approximately 18 miles to Ross Peak in Township 5 North, Range 12 East, section 34, and continuing east along and including the Bear Creek drainage and it's northern drainage divide but excluding the Bear Creek Trailhead Camping Area and the access to that site on Forest Road #080 (Bear Creek Road), to Forest Road #079 in Township 5 North, Range 12 East, in section 34; an then south along but excluding Forest #079 approximately 1.3 miles to the Forest / private land boundary in Township 4 North Range 12 East section 3, continuing south to where that boundary joins the South Fork Boise River in Township 4 North, Range 13 East, section 34, continuing south following the west side of South Fork Boise River to where it meets Forest Road #227 in Township 3 North, Range 13 East, section 9; then west along Forest Road #227 approximately 10 miles to Jumbo Creek, Township3 North, Range 12 East, continuing south across the South Fork Boise River along the Elmore and Camas County Line and including Baumgartner Campground to Forest Road #071, Kelley Flat Road, and west along and including that road to Kelley Creek in Township 3 North, Range 11 East, section 14, following Kelley creek to its confluence with the South Fork Boise River, and west along and including the South Fork Boise River approximately 10 miles down river, back to the point of origin.
The above described roads, trails, and area are located on National Forest System lands within the administrative and proclaimed boundaries of the Fairfield Ranger District within the Sawtooth National Forest, Elmore and Camas Counties, Idaho, Boise Meridian.
PURPOSE:
The roads, trails and area described above lead into an area with ongoing wildfire activity. The roads, trails, and area closures are necessary to provide for public safety and protection from hazards associated with wildfire. These routes will remain closed until they are determined to be safe for public travel.
IMPLEMENTATION:
- This Order will be in effect when signed and shall remain in effect until such time that the road and trails are determined to be safe for public entry and the closure signs are removed by the Forest Service.
- A map identifying the closure area is attached and made part of this Order.
- Any violation of this prohibition is punishable by fine of not more than $5,000.00 for an individual, or $10,000.00 for an organization, and/or imprisonment for not more than six (6) months [Title 16 USC 551, Title 18 USC 3751 (b) (6), Title 18 USC 3581 (b)(7)].
