Additional Forest Roads, Trails, and Area Reopened

Yreka, CA (September 8, 2008)-A portion of Klamath National Forest Road 15N17 has been reopened, east of Ti Bar Guard Station, providing increased access to popular Stanshaw Trailhead and Haypress Meadows hunting and hiking areas. In addition Forest Roads 13N35, 14N01, 14N14, 14N39, and 14N69 have also been reopened. The newly opened Forest Road 15N17 can be accessed from Forest Roads 14N01 or 13N11. The southwest area of the Marble Mountain Wilderness as well as Wooley Creek, Bridge Creek, Medicine Mountain, and Portuguese Trail (from the trailhead to Portuguese Peak) have also been reopened.

A new road closure has been implemented for Forest Road 13N13. This new closure is located in the Siskiyou/Blue 2 Complex west of State Highway 96.

A number of Forest roads and trails continue to be closed because of current wildfires. Information on current closures is available on the Klamath National Forest web site at http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/klamath. Click on "Current Conditions" on the home page and then refer to the "Klamath National Forest Closure Map" and the "Status of Roads, Trails, Areas, River Access and Campgrounds" for more details.
