Gasquet Ranger District

National Forest Road and Trail Closure

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(a), and to provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Gasquet Ranger District of the Six Rivers National Forest. This order is effective from June 26, 2008, until the Blue Fire is contained.

  1. Being on the National Forest System roads listed below and shown on the attached map (pdf 588kb):
    1. Forest Road No. 14N01 (Red Mountain Road) from the Red Mountain Lookout then northeast to its intersection with Forest Road No. 15N01 (G-O Road).
    2. Forest Road No. 15N01 (G-O Road.) from its intersection with Forest Road No. 14N01 then east to its termination point.

      36 CFR 261.54(e).
  2. Being on the National Forest System trail listed below and shown on the attached map (pdf 588kb):
    1. Trail No. 3E07 (Summit Valley Trail) from the trailhead then north to Summit Valley Shelter.

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this order:

  1. Persons with a permit from the Forest Service specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission.
  2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.

These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.

A violation of this prohibition is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or both. 16 USC 551 and 18 USC 3559, 3571, and 3581.
